Official statistical data
We acquire published DVSA and Department for Infrastructure workbooks, retain their reporting periods and notes, and record checksums and parser versions. A workbook’s retrieval date is not its reporting period. Our data explorer keeps the original worksheet layout and suppression symbols. Normalised views show unavailable or suppressed numbers as missing, never zero.
Pass rates and comparison
Pass rates describe tests taken at a centre during a stated period. They do not measure how easy an individual route is or predict a learner’s result. Candidate mix, repeat attempts, transmission and test category matter. Do not compare GB annual data with NI quarterly data as if the denominators or periods were the same. We do not rank instructors by inferred pupil outcomes.
Waiting times
DVSA historical availability and completed-wait measures describe different things. Neither is a live appointment feed. A published average or median cannot tell you the next slot for your circumstances. Book and manage tests using the official service and the rules that apply in your nation.
Provider information
Open-source business records supply discovery identities and listed locations. Provider websites and owner submissions can supply factual services, prices and package conditions. A listed address is not a lesson collection area. Open hours are not lesson availability. Website statements and owner confirmation do not prove current regulator approval. Candidate website evidence requires review before it becomes a published fact.
Availability and verification
Owner-submitted availability expires after no more than 14 days. A provider marked owner confirmed has supplied ownership evidence; the label is not an endorsement or a pass guarantee. Credential checks must identify the regulator, credential, observation date and scope. Paying for visibility can never purchase verification.
Locations and coverage
Statistical localities are grouped from test-centre names and are not official administrative boundaries. A centre with no verified address links to the official venue finder. Provider locations and confirmed teaching areas remain distinct. Geographic enrichment must use an appropriate licence, including Northern Ireland restrictions where relevant.
Freshness and corrections
Each statistical workbook links to its original source and retrieval date. Provider facts carry source-check dates and prices remain subject to current terms. Access-restricted feeds are labelled separately from acquired datasets. If a source changes or an importer fails, collection should pause and the previous validated release remains available. Use the correction form when a source or interpretation needs attention.
Search and ranking
Ordinary provider results are alphabetical within your filters. Missing service evidence may exclude an otherwise suitable provider from a narrow search; broaden filters and confirm directly. Thin, unconfirmed provider pages are excluded from search-engine indexation until they contain useful service and coverage evidence. Paid placement, if enabled, is separately labelled and never changes factual statistics.
