Understand the published indicators
DVSA publishes indicators based on pupil test outcomes over a rolling period. A threshold is an indicator used in the standards-check process, not an automatic finding of poor instruction.
The tool shows how your entered figures compare with the published measures and preserves the number of tests used. It does not predict DVSA’s decision.
Use an appropriate sample
A very small sample can change sharply after one outcome. Enter actual figures from your own report and check whether the minimum number of tests applies.
Do not compare an individual instructor’s private sample with a centre’s public rate as if the candidate mix were equivalent.
Choose relevant development
Reflect on lesson planning, risk management and teaching strategies. Ask a suitable trainer to observe and discuss your practice rather than preparing only to display a routine for the assessment.
